Nestled in the historic wine village of Zichron Ya’akov, Somek Winery embodies the heart and soul of Israel’s boutique winemaking movement.

Founded in 2002 by Barak and Hila Dahan, this family-run estate produces small-batch, hand-crafted wines that capture the authentic character of Israel’s Mediterranean coast.

With a philosophy rooted in tradition, integrity, and craftsmanship, Somek Winery focuses on quality over quantity—producing expressive, unfiltered wines that reflect both the land and the people behind them.

A Family Legacy

Winemaking runs deep in the Dahan family. Barak, a fifth-generation vintner, grew up among the vineyards of Zichron Ya’akov and founded Somek to carry forward his family’s legacy.

The name “Somek”, meaning “to support” in Hebrew, represents the family’s enduring commitment to hard work, balance, and authenticity.

Together, Barak and Hila have built a winery defined by minimal intervention and respect for the vine, letting nature guide each vintage.

VINEYARDS & TERROIR

Somek’s vineyards lie on the foothills of Mount Carmel, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The combination of limestone-rich soils, moderate climate, and cool sea breezes creates ideal conditions for balanced, flavorful grapes.

The Dahans practice sustainable, low-yield farming, ensuring that each grape delivers concentrated flavor and depth. Natural pest control, careful water conservation, and hand-harvesting reflect their dedication to both the land and the craft.
