GOLAN HEIGHTS, ISRAEL
Israel’s Leading Producer of Quality Wines
Founded in 1983 by four kibbutzim and four moshavim (cooperative communities), Golan Heights Winery has transformed Israel’s wine landscape. From the very beginning, the winery redefined how Israeli consumers perceive quality wine, elevating the country’s status on the global wine map.

Wine Country Philosophy
“Wine tells the story of a place.” – Victor Schoenfeld, Head Winemaker
At the heart of Golan Heights Winery’s mission is a deep respect for terroir. With every vintage, the winery continues to explore and understand the incredible potential of the Golan region.
The area’s exceptional diversity—rare even by global standards—makes each wine a unique piece of a complex puzzle.
Volcanic soils
Snowy winters and sun-drenched summers
Long, hot days followed by cool nights
Elevated, windswept vineyards
These elements combine to produce wines of rich flavor, depth, and nuance—true expressions of place, people, and culture.
Elevating Israel’s Wine Culture
Leading Israel’s quality wine culture isn’t just a motto—it’s the winery’s core purpose.
This vision is realized through:
In-depth study of the land and climate
Precision in vineyard management and winemaking
Engaging consumers and professionals with educational and cultural experiences
Every aspect of the winery’s work is guided by a passion for excellence and a commitment to showcasing what makes the Golan Heights so special.
During harvest season, everyone returns to the vineyards, working side by side with friends and volunteers in an annual tradition that turns harvest into celebration.
Precision Viticulture: The Vineyards
Golan Heights Winery oversees approximately 630 hectares (6,300 dunams) of producing vineyards across 28 sites, subdivided into 450 unique blocks, spanning elevations from 400 to nearly 1,200 meters above sea level.
Key practices include:
Planting 20 grape varieties suited to microclimates and soil profiles
Detailed mapping and monitoring of each block (soil conductivity, water levels, growth)
Independent harvesting and fermentation of each block to preserve its identity
Blending only after full evaluation, or bottling as single-vineyard wines when terroir and quality align
The result: wines that are thoughtful, expressive, and rooted in data-driven craftsmanship as much as natural beauty.
VARIETY
Produced with Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Merlot. Aged in French oak barrels for 21 months.
ABOUT YARDEN
Yarden is the premier label and flagship brand of Golan Heights Winery. Each year, the finest grapes from the best vineyards are reserved for Yarden wines. “Yarden” is the Hebrew word for Jordan River, which bisects the Golan Heights from the Galilee. The label features a symbol of ancient Israel: an oil lamp decorated with mosaic tile.
