Kishor Winery, Israel: A Fusion of Terroir, Innovation, and Community
Tucked into the picturesque hills of Israel’s Western Galilee, Kishor Winery is a boutique treasure that blends exceptional winemaking with a mission of social inclusion. Established in 2010, this winery is part of Kishorit, a unique community supporting individuals with special needs. Kishor Winery not only crafts high-quality wines but also provides meaningful work and vocational opportunities, making it a beacon of empowerment through craftsmanship. Over the years, it has gained acclaim for its wines and its inspiring purpose.
Terroir of the Western Galilee
The Western Galilee is one of Israel’s most fertile regions, with limestone-rich soils, basaltic rock, and a Mediterranean climate influenced by cooling breezes from the sea. This unique terroir, combined with the hilly terrain, creates ideal conditions for grape cultivation, allowing Kishor Winery to grow a variety of grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Mourvèdre, and Viognier.
The winery’s commitment to sustainable farming preserves the environment and enhances the resilience of its vineyards. These methods, paired with meticulous grape selection, ensure that the land’s unique character is authentically expressed in every bottle.
Winemaking Philosophy
At Kishor Winery, winemaking is driven by a respect for the land and a focus on quality. Using low-intervention techniques, the team allows the grapes’ natural qualities to shine. Grapes are hand-harvested, fermented with natural yeasts, and aged in a mix of stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels to achieve depth and balance.
The winery’s red blends, like the Kishor GSM (Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre), are known for their rich fruitiness and earthy complexity. The Viognier, a standout white, offers vibrant acidity, floral aromas, and a smooth finish, showcasing the region’s elegance.
A Winery with Purpose
Kishor Winery is integral to the Kishorit community, offering residents with special needs opportunities to engage in meaningful work. From tending vineyards to bottling wines, community members contribute at every stage of production, fostering independence and self-worth.
Each bottle represents not only the flavors of the Galilee but also the dedication of Kishorit’s members. Kishor Winery has earned accolades for its wines and its inclusive model, inspiring similar initiatives worldwide.

Kishor Rosé 2023
Classic dry rosé wine.
A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Fran with a delicate salmon color. The nose is full of fruit and fresh life, with aromas of strawberries and early-season berries. The mouth is rounded and soft.
Drink well chilled. Very suitable for a whole range of light appetizers, but especially wonderful as a Friday afternoon aperitif.
GSM Red 2022
A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre grapes, with a touch of gentle roasting, both meaty and floral.
The attack is smooth and the tannins develop nicely in the mouth and add a pleasant spice and roughness to the wine that is reminiscent of the old world.
The texture, the fresh and present red fruit flavors, combined with the flavors coming from the wood, make it a wine that is simply fun to drink.
This is a wonderfully culinary wine, which will go well with light red or white meat, roasted or grilled, and with spicy but not spicy dishes. With ripe but not spicy cheeses. Also suitable for lentil dishes.
